A.) Since its an unknown land the explorer didn't know what creatures they might encounter. The most scariest creature would be sea creatures, because during this period many sea creatures were imagined? For example, large octopus or violent mermaids. Not only was there a danger of sea animals, their lives could be endangered as well because they did't know how far that unknown land was as the sailing gets longer the possibility of dying increased. So there was a fear that they might not be able to get back to their homes. This is just a legend story but 'Flying dutchman' is the famous legend story. It was a ship that went to India, but sunk down at Cape of Good Hope, and this became a ghost and flying the sea. By looking at this story we can easily figure it out that taking risk that their lives are not guarantee was a hard thing.

A.) I will try to get friendly with them, and spread our technology and our religion(but not that hard) to those people.
